Winda Rewards Program

Purpose
The Winda Program recognises and celebrates students who demonstrate the core values of Coffs Harbour Senior College. This policy outlines the structure, criteria and recognition processes for the Winda Levels System commencing in 2026. The program strengthens the consistency of student recognition across the college, aligns with the enhanced Year 12 Awards Program and reinforces a culture of excellence, dedication, care and community.

Values Framework
The Winda Program is built around four key values identified through the 2026 Staff Survey. Excellence represents achievement, high expectations and academic rigour. Dedication includes commitment to learning, improvement, consistency, growth mindset and engagement. Care reflects supportive, positive, empathetic and kind behaviours. Community encompasses service, leadership, participation in events and contributions to an inclusive environment.

Background and Trial Findings
A trial of the Winda Program with Year 12 in 2025 provided valuable insights. Across the cohort, 426 Winda Awards were issued. The highest individual totals were 12, 9 and 7 awards. A total of 176 students received at least one Winda, with the average student receiving 2.4 awards and a median of 2. These results informed the refined levels system to be implemented in 2026.

Winda Levels System 2026
The strengthened Winda Program includes three levels of recognition.

Level 1: Winda Award
Students who receive three or more Windas in a single term, across any of the four values, will receive a Winda Certificate at their next Year Level Meeting. The certificate is signed by their Year Advisor and the achievement is noted in the Involvements section of their next academic report.

Level 2: Winda Values Certificate
Students who achieve five or more Windas in one value across the year will receive a Winda Values Certificate for that specific value. Students may receive additional certificates if they reach the threshold in more than one value. These certificates are signed by the Deputy Principal and included in the student’s report package and Year 12 involvements. Students who earn a Values Certificate are acknowledged at the Year 11 Awards Assembly in Term 4 and also receive a Blackwing Pencil at their next Year Level Meeting.

Level 3: College Values Award
Students who earn Winda Values Certificates across all four values at any point during their two years at CHSC will receive the College Values Award. This is presented at graduation and signed by the College Principal. Students receiving this award will also be nominated for consideration for the Coffs Harbour City Council Award and the Ampol Best All Rounder Award.

Implementation/Review
The policy applies to all students from Term 1 2026. Tracking and administration will occur through existing college systems and processes (Sentral). The policy may be reviewed as part of the broader CHSC Awards and Recognition Framework to ensure it continues to reflect college priorities and student outcomes.
